Rules of the
Hackathon
- You need to register as a team that will have 2-5 members. It is recommended to have a senior person as a mentor who can help you to develop the use case.
- If you haven't been able to find your team/team member yet and want to form a team with other participants, you can write to us on email [email protected] and we will help you with the same.
- Once the team has been formed, you can still add/delete team members with the approval of the organising team
- Demo day will be a physical event and if you are shortlisted, you may need to travel for the final Demo of your project.
- Do note that by participating in Udbhav, you acknowledge your agreement with our Terms & Conditions.
- You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas. Plagiarism is highly discouraged.
- All the submissions will be considered on a per team basis.
- If your team is working on multiple problem statements, it would be treated as separate entries/teams.
- The IP of the solution will belong to ONGC.

Questions
Why is ONGC organizing this event?
ONGC has always been a pioneer in the Oil and Gas industry. As a first adopter of AI in this sector, we are organizing the AI Hackathon to train our employees and promote AI adoption.
Who can register?
Anyone who thinks they can solve the problem! You could be a coder, operations person, driller, analyst, or someone from a support function.
What is the process to register for the Hackathon?
Simple! Register on the Udbhav website and form your team. And no, there is no participation fee!
How do I form a team? Do I need team members to register a team?
The participating team size can be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 members. If you want to participate but don't have a team, you can connect with other participants by writing to us at [email protected].
Do I need to know programming to be a part of this hackathon?
Not every team member needs to know programming to participate. We aim to solve real-world problems, so diverse skills from different functions are valuable. However, at least one or two team members should have programming experience.
Where will the hackathon be conducted?
You can work on your idea from your base location.
Do I need to travel for the Demo Day?
Yes, Demo Day will be conducted at the head office. Shortlisted teams will need to travel to New Delhi for the event.
Is this event "Open to All"?
Udbhav is an internal hackathon. It's designed to foster new ideas, tech-enabled solutions, and opportunities for our teams to innovate and experiment freely.
Can I be a part of more than one team?
Yes, You can be a part of multiple teams.
Can I mentor more than one team?
Yes, you can mentor more than one team.
Can a team work on more than one problem statement?
Yes, teams can work on multiple problem statements, but each solution will be treated as a separate entry. For example, if you work on two problem statements, you'll need to submit two separate entries.
I have an interesting idea. What do I do next?
Udbhav Submission Insights on the portal. Our team will reach out if further details are needed. The MDT will evaluate submissions and select the top ideas for the next stage.
What happens after our idea gets shortlisted for the second stage?
Once your idea is shortlisted, you'll move to the development phase. Selected teams will work on creating their proposed solutions with support and guidance from experts at OGES and SAS. Weekly reviews will track progress and resolve challenges. After about four weeks, you'll present your prototype to the MDT for feedback. You'll then refine the prototype and prepare for the final presentation on Demo Day.
Do I need to be available for the entire duration of the hackathon?
Yes, you're expected to contribute throughout the hackathon. If urgent responsibilities arise, discuss them with your team and plan accordingly.
Do I need to give a demo of the product I built? Is there a format?
Yes! Prepare to pitch and demo your solution. You can use a document, presentation, or video along with your working solution. The demo must not exceed 15 minutes, including Q&A with the jury. A pitch template will be shared to assist you.
Who will own the product and the IP?
ONGC will own the IP of the solution. Winning teams may be invited to participate in productizing the idea.
What is the evaluation criteria?
